The change of seasons brings a change to your beauty regimen. The dry, harsh winter weather and the central heating blasting indoors can both take a toll on your skin, lips, and hair. The zero degree weather in NYC right now is definitely putting my routine to the test!
These simple tweaks to your winter beauty routine will help combat some of the damage.
FACE
To keep skin moisturized, drink plenty of water and keep very hot showers to a minimum. An intensely hydrating, rich moisturizer of your choice should also be in your beauty arsenal. Apply while your face is still damp to lock in moisture. Use a lip scrub on your lips and always apply a heavy layer of lip balm at bedtime.
HAIR
A rejuvenating hair mask will give your hair that extra dose of hydration it needs. Try to limit how often you apply heat tools to your hair. Tea Tree Oil is also excellent for dry, itchy scalps.
BODY
Winters are incomplete without slathering on my favorite body butters. Body oils can also hydrate your skin and keep it soft and supple. Coconut oil is great for this purpose. Applying right after showering (when your skin is still damp) will allow it to absorb better into your skin.
HANDS & FEET
Your hands are constantly exposed to the cold and wind, and can really take a beating. Always wear gloves and always moisturize your hands with hand cream or cuticle oil after you wash them.
Pamper yourself at night by slathering your hands and feet with lotion and then sleeping with cotton gloves and thick socks on. Not only will your hands and feet be soft the next morning, you’ll also be warm and cozy throughout the night.
